SEO

The keywords or keywords are the terms that we type in Google to find the answer we are looking for.

What are keywords?

Keywords are mainly the questions that we ask the search engine and that it tries to answer in the best way for us, thus giving us an answer that is closer to what we are looking for.

Google's way of answering our search is by offering us the most popular and relevant pages that the search engine considers and thus find our answer.

Anything we enter into search engines is considered a keyword.

What are keywords for?

These are important, since they are part of marketing today and these keywords can benefit a lot when starting a marketing campaign.

Searching for the right keywords will become as easy or as complex and expensive as your pocket allows.

Analyzing and designing a keyword strategy will help you avoid wasting time trying to position keywords that are not going to benefit you and that can harm your project.

Studying the keywords can help us in the following:

  • Irrelevant Keywords (That have few or no searches)
  • Keywords that attract the wrong people (These are people who do not need what we are trying to promote)
  • Keywords with a lot of competition (bad since search engines are full of these, if we are starting it will not be a good idea)

Simply put, if you don't do good keyword research, you'll end up wasting time, and probably even money.

How to use keywords?

As we mentioned before, keywords are often used in marketing campaigns that target them, here content marketing, SEO and PPC enter the equation.

The most basic way to make use of them is by introducing them on your website (Page title, content, categories, subsections, etc.) that are written in the same way that people do their searches.

In this way we are going to create organic traffic, since the search engine showed your site just as they did a search with the same words.

As the icing on the cake, you can give extra information on the related topics of those keywords, that will give added value and improve the SEO of your site.

But don't worry, we have a whole guide on how to improve on-site SEO on your website, not just with keywords, so check it out.

Analyze the keywords of your competition

It is valid to analyze the competition and see what words you are competing with, by doing this you can add new keywords and thus better expand your audience by having a greater reach.

To analyze the words of the competition, we recommend some tools such as Semrush, which is paid or Google's word planner, which is totally free, but without as many benefits as a paid one would be, if we are starting the version perhaps free is our best option.

Remove keywords from your final list

Once we have selected a large enough list, it is time to separate the keywords that are not so important.

As an unwritten rule, if we sell a product or a service, it will always be better to use phrases that call the audience to action.

Now, to eliminate keywords, it is putting ourselves in the place of an anonymous visitor.

  • Think about what you as a visitor expect to find on a site that comes through a specific keyword.
  • Let's analyze if the visitor meets our ideal client to carry out the actions of buying, subscribing, etc.

It is very important that your visitors find on your website what they have been looking for.

Although we can use some tricks to get visits, if at the time of entering your site it does not offer anything that you promised, or you simply do not meet expectations, the audience will simply leave, this could harm our positioning in Google.
